Matt Bachop

Since joining Deats, Durst & Owen, PLLC in 2011, Matt has represented employees and unions in employment discrimination and retaliation, wage and hour, breach of contract, and labor cases in administrative proceedings, arbitrations, and state and federal court trial and appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.

 

Before joining the firm, Matt worked as a regional attorney for Disability Rights Texas, where he focused on employment, healthcare, housing, transportation, and access issues for people with disabilities in central Texas. After graduating law school in 2006, Matt was a law clerk at the Texas 3rd Court of Appeals and a staff attorney for the 53rd District Court of Travis County. During law school, Matt received a University Co-op Public Interest Award for his work with SafePlace, the Consumer Protection Division of the Texas Attorney General’s Office, and Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid.

 

Matt graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas in 2003 with a B.A. in Economics. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa as a Junior. Matt received his law degree in 2006 from the University of Texas School of Law, where he served on the editorial board of the Texas Law Review and graduated with high honors as a member of the Order of the Coif.
