Biography

Philip Durst has been practicing law for over 22 years and his practice is concentrated in employment and civil rights law, as well as civil appellate law, for over 22 years. Phil began practicing as an assistant Texas Attorney General in 1982, after graduating from the University of Texas Law School and also receiving a Masters Degree in Philosophy from U.T.. Mr. Durst left the Attorney General's office in 1985 to form a partnership with his mentor, David R. Richards, as they began the firm of Richards & Durst.

Phil became board certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Certification in 1987. Beginning in 1999, Phil has been an Adjunct Professor at U.T. Law School, teaching employment law and is currently teaching an appellate seminar. In 2005, the firm of Wiseman, Durst, & Owen, P.C., merged with the firm of Deats and Levy, P.C., creating the firm of Deats Durst Owen & Levy, P.L.L.C..

Phil is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars, including seminars hosted by the state bar of Texas, The University of Texas Law School, and South Texas Law School. He has been married for over 20 years to Sarah Woelk and has two children.
